News - Welcome to the new and improved Sell My Wedding
January 10, 2014
What do you think? We must admit we love our new look and hope you do too. We have been working on the revamp since July - when we celebrated our second birthday - and would like to thank the team at Seegreen for working their magic on our little old site.
To mark this milestone the site has undergone major investment
and development to make it even easier for you to sell your wedding and for
brides-to-be to find their perfect items.
As well as a new look, the sign up process has been improved
and an internal messaging system introduced to make selling simpler and safer. The
search functionality is bigger and better and you can now search for items to
hire as well as pre-loved items to buy. We are also now iphone and ipad compatible
meaning you can add items from the convenience of your mobile devices.
We remain passionate about recycling, reusing and reloving
and in order to bring you the largest marketplace of pre-loved wedding items,
alongside our private sellers we have opened up our site to wedding businesses
and vendors who specialise in pre-loved, vintage, sample or wedding items to
hire. If you are interested in becoming a vendor please click here, we would love o have you onboard.
However, our concept remains simple, private sellers pay a
one off fee of just £10 to list an
unlimited amount of wedding items, for businesses the one off fee is £100. There are no individual listing
fees, no sales commission, and sellers manage and update their items. Buyers still register for a free account which enables
them to contact the seller directly! It's as simple as that.
Since we launched we have helped hundreds of newlyweds
sell their wedding and we are proud to have been featured on many of the UK's top
wedding blogs including Love My Dress. We hope that by investing in the site we can continue to grow.
I hope that you like our new look. We would love to hear your feedback drop me an email at hello@sellmywedding.co.uk. Also please let us know any niggles you find along the way we want to make the site as user friendly as possible.
If you are an existing user - both buyer and seller - your sign in details (email and password) remain the same. However if you encounter any issues please don't hesitate to let us know and we will get things sorted.
Happy New Year,
Becca

Wedding Inspiration - Lampshades and Lace
January 09, 2014
Looking for an unusual yet affordable way to decorate your wedding venue? How fabulous do these old lampshades look simply hung from lace ribbon. They look so effective hanging in the grounds of Saltmarshe Hall - a stately home and new wedding venue in East Yorkshire - yet think they would look equally good used indoors to decorate a village hall.
The lace ribbon cost just 40p for a three metre off cut and was bought from a local haberdashery, whilst the lampshades were 50p each bought from a car boot sale.
